Nobody is really surprised anymore that the entire population of Israel is convinced that a war is coming up this summer. Questions like "when exactly" (it seems to me the summer has arrived) or "who will be the enemy" (we have quite a few possible candidates) provoke either furious anger at my ignorance or pitiful superiority over my obvious naivety. As if that wasn't enough, our new/old (who the hell can keep track) minister of defense Ehud Barak found the best possible time to point his finger at yet another looming
danger to our society: draft dodgers.
I am out of words regarding these issues, maybe only this to conclude:
1. Don't beat yourselves up if there won't be a war this summer
2. If you are afraid to be called a "sucker" for being drafted to the army, I don't want you to be the one defending me
Again, it's not as bad as it is portrayed in our collectively hysterical society.
