Fidel Castro announces retirement
"I neither will aspire to nor will I accept, the position of president of the Council of state and commander in chief," Castro wrote in a letter published by official Communist Party paper, Granma.
The 81-year-old Castro has ruled Cuba since leading the communist revolution in 1959, but handed over power temporarily to his brother, Raul Castro, in July 2006 when he underwent intestinal surgery.
So congratulations to Raul, you finally at age 77 managed to advance within the party!
